Camel and cavalry civ: mounted units deal +20/30/40% bonus damage in Feudal/Castle/Imperial Age. They start with 2 Forage Bushes and a Camel Scout instead of Scout Cavalry. Livestock can be garrisoned in Mills to passively produce food. Shrivamsha Riders (unique unit from the Stable) fully block several projectiles with a shield. Chakram Throwers (unique unit from the Castle) hit every unit in their path with melee damage. Kshatriyas: military units cost 25% less food. Frontier Guards: Camel Riders and Elephant Archers +4 melee armor. Team: camel and elephant units train 25% faster.
Usually a Scout rush with Camel Scouts and Scouts, less often Archers or a Drush; on closed maps often Fast Castle. In Castle Age Kshatriyas makes their army cheaper: Shrivamsha Riders, Camel Riders and Elephant Archers, plus Chakram Throwers against infantry. Their bonus damage makes their camels especially dangerous against your cavalry. In Imperial Age Heavy Camel Riders, Elite Shrivamsha and Elephant Archers with Frontier Guards, plus Hand Cannoneers.
Spearmen and Skirmishers are a solid base: Spearmen against Shrivamsha and camels, Skirmishers against Elephant Archers. Fight Shrivamsha with melee units – their shield only blocks projectiles. Their infantry is weak: they lack Pikeman, Champion and Blast Furnace, and your infantry does well against their camels. Monks work well because they lack Faith. Spread your army against Chakram Throwers.
