Ranked 1v1 on Arabia, current patch (since 23 September 2026), mirrors excluded. Source: aoe2companion. Updated weekly.
Archer and Monk civ without a Stable: advancing to the next Age costs 50% less gold. Settlements replace the Mill and camps, cost 33% less and heal nearby units. Champi Warriors and Archery Range units +1/2/3 melee armor in Feudal/Castle/Imperial Age. Monks regain faith 50% faster. Caravan and Guilds are free. Unique units: Guecha Warrior (Skirmisher from the Castle, heals when a nearby Guecha dies) and Temple Guard (infantry from the Barracks and Monastery, attacks faster the longer it fights). Herbalism: Archers and Champi Warriors move 15% faster. Huaracas: Slingers +1 range and train 50% faster. Team: gold sources last 15% longer.
On open maps almost always Archers, often with Champi Runners in front – Hera's Champi Rush for the South American civs. On closed maps Fast Castle, made easier by half-gold Age-ups. In Castle Age Champi Warriors, Crossbowmen, Temple Guards and Guecha Warriors against your ranged units; Archery Range units and Champis take little melee damage thanks to the armor bonus. Their Monks are active often thanks to fast faith regeneration.
Against their Archers use your own Archers and Mangonels: the melee armor doesn't help against arrows, and they lack Ring Archer Armor. Champis, however, have high pierce armor and are weak to cavalry. Temple Guards attack faster the longer they fight and are strong against cavalry – fight them with the Militia line or ranged units, not Knights. Guecha Warriors are weak in melee: close in with Knights or infantry. Muisca have no cavalry, no Halberdier, no Blast Furnace, no Siege Ram and no Architecture. Hunt their Monks early with Scouts.
