Overview

Cavalry civ with a cheap Stable: Stable units cost 15/20% less in Castle/Imperial Age. Villagers move 5% faster in Dark Age and 10% faster from Feudal Age, ships 10% faster. Camel Archers (unique unit from the Castle) hunt Cavalry Archers. Genitours (unique unit from the Archery Range) are mounted Skirmishers that cost no gold. Kasbah: team Castles work 25% faster. Maghrebi Camels: Camel units regenerate 15 HP per minute. Team: allies can train Genitours at the Archery Range from Castle Age.

What to expect from the Berbers

Usually a Scout rush in Feudal Age, plus a few Skirmishers; their fast Villagers gather and build quickly meanwhile. In Castle Age Knights and Light Cavalry come in large numbers thanks to the discount, plus Genitours against Archers. From the Castle come Camel Archers that hard-counter Cavalry Archers. In Imperial Age Hussars, Cavaliers, Camel Archers and Genitours – fast, and much of it without gold.

How to beat the Berbers

Their army is almost all cavalry: bring Spearmen and Camel Riders, and mass Pikemen from Castle Age. Monks help against the first Knights. Camel Archers and Genitours lose to Skirmishers and Onagers – playing Cavalry Archers into Camel Archers goes badly. They lack Paladin, Arbalester, Halberdier and Imperial Camel Rider – late game their units stay one tier lower.
